My exhibition explores finding the true meaning of home in the most uncertain of places and the process of healing the inner child. This concept is explored through the lens of faith deconstruction – a term defined by Alisa Childers as "the process of systematically dissecting and often rejecting the beliefs you grew up with."

I work across several different mediums including painting, digital collage, and printmaking. My work is textural and layered – often referencing the many layers of one’s identity.

A common feature found in many of the pieces on display is the use of fire; this is a symbol of hope rather than a form of destruction. The burns represent experienced trauma that has contributed to creating a more holistic version of oneself. Fire is about deconstructing the past to make peace with it in order to have peace within yourself.

In January 2021, my mom passed away, which became a driving influence for my art practice. Later that year, I unexpectedly took a counseling job at Covenant Point Bible Camp which allowed me the space to heal my inner child during a very broken season of my life.

I utilize art as a therapeutic outlet and a form of worship that has allowed me to connect deeper with God. For those reasons, creating this exhibition has been very healing for me. Overall, this is an open diary and my intent is to be my most vulnerable and raw self with the viewer so that they may know the most authentic version of myself.
